Union for conservation of nature. It has been estimated that in the last four centuries on our planet ceased to exist 36 species of mammals and 94 species of birds. And then scientists from different countries have decided: you have to create the "Red book".

In 1948году in the small town of Fontainebleau at the international conference was founded by the international Union for conservation of nature and natural resources. Set up a special Commission for the emergency services. This service was fueled by a list with explanations, which included animals and plants were endangered, and rare species.

Scientists decided to call this list a red book.
