It is situated on a picturesque spot in the centre of the central black soil region. Kursk is the city with rich hi storical past. It was founded in 982-984 as a fortress of the kiev prince. There are many beautiful cathedrals and historical bui ldings here. Kursk is prond of its outstanding people who were born here: composer Sviridov, Russian actor Schepkin, writer nosov, poet Phet, etc. My town, is the industrial and cultural centre of the redion.
